National Unity Party (UBP) Deputy Group Chairman and Acting Secretary General Ahmet Savaşan made evaluations on many issues, from fiber optics to the government's actions and the opposition's claims, during a program he attended.

Fiber Optics: “A Transparent, Legal, and Process Compatible with National Interests”
Savaşan, who made important statements regarding the fiber optic infrastructure protocol, which has been a subject of public debate, emphasized that the signing of the main protocol first, followed by the additional protocol, is a normal process.
Savaşan, reminding that the main protocol was legalized in Turkey, clearly stated that the same diligence would be followed in the TRNC. Savaşan, especially emphasizing that the Telecommunications Department and BTYK would continue their duties completely and that the main backbone would belong to the TRNC, gave a strong response to sovereignty concerns.

An agreement was reached on a protocol, discussions are unnecessary.
Savaşan stated that Minister of Transport Erhan Arıklı reported an agreement was reached at the extended group meeting to rectify the incomplete or ambiguous points in the main protocol with an additional protocol, recalling that similar artificial agendas were created during the municipal reform process. Stating that some circles unnecessarily amplified the issue, Savaşan expressed that there is a majority in Parliament and it is foreseen that the law will pass this evening.

“The greatest period of service in the last 20 years.”
Stating that projects that could not be completed for years were brought to life in four years, Savaşan underlined that many projects such as roads, hospitals, and schools were completed under the UBP-DP-YDP government. Savaşan did not shy away from admitting the government's shortcomings; however, he firmly argued that the picture presented was the most comprehensive period of service that marked the last 20 years of the TRNC's history.
Savaşan emphasized that the government, led by UBP General Chairman and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, will continue its course and stated that early elections are not on their agenda.

Democracy Works at UBP, Institutional Structure is Solid
Savaşan rejected the assertion by some circles that the UBP PM's decision to cancel and renew 9 organizational elections was being portrayed as chaos, stating emphatically: “The process is proceeding in full compliance with the party's charter and internal operating rules.” Savaşan also said, “There are no legal issues whatsoever concerning the party leader, PM members, or party organs.” Emphasizing that the UBP's institutional structure is solid, Savaşan declared, "The UBP will continue its service to its people with determination.".

“No Legal Basis, Harms the Union”
Savaşan gave a harsh and clear response to the circulating claims that UBP cannot enter the election: “Such a situation is legally impossible.”
Savaşan clearly stated that such discourse harms the party's unity and integrity, emphasizing that the allegations are unfounded and lack any legal basis.

UBP continues to be determined to shape the future of Northern Cyprus with both its on-the-ground presence and its corporate structure.
